Wood’s ethereal Tusk EP is a bass filled compilation of tracks to get you bouncing.
The EP starts off with One, a track that fills you with a mix of tension and excitement; a sign of things to come. This impending feeling culminates towards the end of the track with some gorgeous calming sampling to set you at ease, landing you back at your feet and imprinting the tone for the rest of the EP.
By the time Two has begun it’s unique sound has already enveloped you. Woods’ composition feels both very familiar and very new - and to us, whilst the begining of the track could accompany an adventure game on the Nintendo 64, as we reach the break in the middle of the track we begin to embark on an entirely new journey.
Three is a showcase of Woods’ talents. He brings in piano chords, synths, lo-fi drum kits and unique sampling to this short two minute piece. Yet, whilst so many element are packed into this track, nothing feels rushed or out of place. The track explores the array of Woods’ abilities as the song progresses through an array of different sounds.
The EP finishes on the eponymous Tusk, an atmospheric airy creation. Tusk leaves the listener with a lingering feeling of what Woods’ can become in the future, as the track sees out the EP. Woods’ is an extremely talented world creator and we’re excited to see what he’ll be bringing to the table in the future.
